Trading for Teddy

Last season, the call went out around the NFL by fans dissatisfied with their team’s QB situation. Tank for Teddy! signs popped up at arenas and online. Teddy is, of course, former Louisville signal caller Teddy Bridgewater. Long thought to be a guaranteed first overall selection in this season’s draft, Teddy’s MUCH DISCUSSED poor pro day performance saw his draft stock plummet.

One team saw beyond the hullabaloo of a bad work out. GM Rick Spielman and the Minnesota Vikings worked Teddy out privately, and with his gloves, and they saw the Teddy Bridgewater that Louisville fans saw for three seasons. Spielman told vikings.com that, “Teddy has the “it” factor…and is a proven winner.” So when they had the chance Minnesota traded for Teddy.

Minnesota, who selected LB Anthony Barr with their first round pick, made a last-second deal with Seattle to move back into the final spot of the first round to get the quarterback they coveted. With weapons like Adrian Peterson, Greg Jennings and Cordarelle Peterson, Teddy should be very happy in his new home.
