Strong Says Social Media Will Be "Downfall of Society"

At the annual Governor’s Cup Luncheon held today in Simpsonville, both Joker Phillips and Charlie Strong took questions about the issues surrounding their football programs. That meant there was a lot of conversation about social media and the summer-long back-and-forth between UK and UofL players on Twitter. After Phillips reiterated that it will not be tolerated at UK, Strong took it a step further. He called it the end of us all.
“Social media is going to be the downfall of society,” Strong told the Governor’s Cup Luncheon audience. “It is. Once you tweet, it’s there and it’s never going to go away. They say, ‘Well, I can go take it off.’ No, once it’s posted, it’s posted.”
In addition to the barbs thrown in the direction of the Wildcats, the Cardinals also received some negative publicity over not-so-PG Twitter handles of some of their players. That led the school to hire Nick Stover as the Director of Social Media for the school’s athletic programs.
