Steve Masiello has completed the necessary coursework and will receive his degree from the University of Kentucky this August, according to Jeff Goodman at

Masiello, who took Manhattan to the NCAA tournament this past season in his third year as the Jaspers’ head coach, had accepted a job as head coach at South Florida. However that job was rescinded due to a background check that showed that Masiello had never earned a degree from UK, despite having it listed on his resume.

The University of Manhattan agreed to keep Masiello on as their coach but placed him on an unpaid leave until he finished his coursework and obtained his degree.

“I am extremely grateful and humbled by the opportunity to continue as the head men’s basketball coach at Manhattan College,” Masiello said in the release back in April. “I made a mistake that could have cost me my job at an institution I love. Details matter. Manhattan College has shown me a great deal of compassion and trust during this process, and I will do everything in my power to uphold that trust. I understand that I am very fortunate to have the chance to remain here at Manhattan.”
