Steve Coburn apologizes on Good Morning America

Monday mornings are rough on most people, but Steve Coburn may be having the worst start to his week as the California Chrome co-owner went on Good Morning America to apologize for statements he made over the weekend.

On Saturday, Coburn called Tonalist’s Belmont win the “coward’s way out.” That interview Coburn gave just moments after California Chrome’s fourth place finish in the last leg of the Triple Crown. On Sunday, Coburn was not backing down from his original sentiment, asking “would it be fair if I played basketball with a child in a wheel chair?”

While some may argue Coburn took it too far, his comments sparked a national debate. Should horses be required to compete in all three races (the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness and the Belmont)? Or is this just how horse racing is, proving how tough yet special a Triple Crown win is?

What is your take on Coburn’s comments? Leave your answer in the comments section below.
