The Orlando Magic have agreed to terms with former UofL point guard Peyton Siva, according to the Orlando Sentinel. .

According to the report, Siva will be signed to a non-guaranteed contract but will be waived before the season starts. He will be allowed to participate in training camp as well as preseason games. The Magic will retain Siva’s rights and send him to their D League affiliate, the Erie Bayhawks.

This is not an uncommon practice for teams who want to fortify their D League affiliates. NBA rules allow up to three players who participate in training camp to be allocated to the D League each season, as long as they are released before the D League draft and have signed contracts.

Last season, Peyton split time between the Detroit Pistons, where he averaged 2.3 ppg and 1.4 apg while playing in 24 games, and their D League affiliate the Fort Wayne Mad Ants. Siva played in 10 games for Fort Wayne, averaging 12 ppg and 4.6 apg
