Signing Day Update

02/05/2013 04:00 PM

National Signing Day is less than 24 hours away, and there’s been some late activity for both Kentucky and Louisville.

The Cats made big waves earlier when they got a commitment from four-star receiver Ryan Timmons, an explosive playmaker from Frankfort’s Franklin County High. But that could just be the tip of the iceberg for Coach Mark Stoops and his staff. Multiple sources are reporting that Trinity defensive end Jason Hatcher has de-committed from USC and will sign with UK. The school has set a 3 p.m. press conference for its fall signees, which include Mr. Football James Quick, who’s signing with Louisville, and running back Dalyn Dawkins, who recently committed to Purdue.

As for the Cards, they have a small class (didn’t have the full allotment of scholarships to offer) of 16 prospects. There could be one late addition, as four-star Florida LB Jermaine Grace will choose between UofL and Miami on Wednesday.

As of late Tuesday afternoon, here are how the recruiting sites ranked the Cards and Cats. Note that these rankings don’t take into consideration any potential last-minute Wednesday signings, such as Hatcher:

Rivals: UK #29, UofL #57

Scout: UK #48, UofL #53

247Sports: UK# 41, UofL #42
