Jackson High, a sophomore linebacker from Ryle High School, was selected to participate in the nation’s top prep football all-star camp this weekend. High will participate in Football University’s TOP GUN, from July 17-19 in Dublin, Ohio.
High was invited to TOP GUN because of his performance as a linebacker at the FBU Nashville camp, according to a release. Players invited to TOP GUN are the best at their respective position and will compete with more than 800 other top athletes from the nation.
High and the other players at camp will have the opportunity to train with current and former NFL players and coaches. The elite staff has privately trained and mentored players like Drew Brees, Matt Ryan, Eli Manning and Tony Romo.
Headlining the TOP GUN Showcase are Jeff Rutledge, former quarterback coach of the Arizona Cardinals; wide receiver coach Billy “White Shoes” Johnson; legendary offensive line coach Jim McNally; defensive back coach Ray Buchanan; and wide receiver coach Charlie Collins. Top Gun is the culmination of Football University’s 30-camp nationwide tour, which gathers the most elite performers from across the United States and allows them to compete and display their abilities together on one stage.
Next week, Towson University will host USA Football’s National Team Games, which High has also been selected to attend. An elite group of about 180 incoming freshmen and sophomore players will get to participate. The players will be evaluated and given a chance to earn a spot on the U.S. National Team roster that will play against Canada in February in the 2015 International Bowl.
