Russ Smith upped his career point total to 1,731 in Louisville’s 88-66 win over Temple. The senior guard scored 24 points, moving into eighth place in the record books and bypassing Herbert Crook (1984-88) and Charlie Tyra (1953-57). Smith also hit one three-pointer, which ties him with Larry O-Bannon (2001) for most career three-point goals.
Montrezl Harrell scored 21 points, including four rim-shaking dunks that kept the momentum clearly on the number-seven ranked Cards side. Freshman Terry Rozier added another 19 points. The trio of Smith, Harrell and Rozier combined for 64 points, nearly outscoring the entire Temple team. Chris Jones quietly added 9 points and 8 assists.
UofL travels to Memphis Saturday to take on the number 21 Tigers. Memphis fell to Houston Thursday night 77-68 in an unexpected upset. The Louisville-Memphis game tips off at 2 p.m. ET and can be seen on CBS.
