Ria Antonia, coming off her 6th place finish in the Kentucky Oaks, has been confirmed for the Preakness this Saturday in Baltimore. Ria Antonia will become only the 54th filly to try her luck in horse racing’s second jewel in the triple crown. Five fillies have won the race, including Rachel Alexandra in 2009.

Majority owner Ron Paolucci made the decision to switch trainers shortly after the Oaks to Tom Amoss. At that time, he also indicated his desire to run Ria Antonia in the Preakness. She will be ridden by hall of fame jockey Calvin Borel.

The Preakness field now stands at ten horses confirmed for the 1 3/16-mile race at Pimlico Race Course. Joining Ria Antonia will be Kentucky Derby winner California Chrome along with Kid Cruz, General A Rod, Dynamic Impact, Bayern, Ring Weekend, Ride On Curlin, Social Inclusion and Pablo Del Monte.

The post position draw for the 139th Preakness Stakes will be this Wednesday at 6 p.m. and will be televised on HRTV, Time Warner Cable channel 564.
