06/04/2014 05:19 PM
On Wednesday, city leaders and owners of the Louisville City Football Club officially announced that the Orlando City Soccer Club will be relocating to Louisville.
The professional soccer team is expected to start next season and all home games will take place at Louisville Slugger Field where today’s announcement was made. Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer said the move has been in the works for a while and he expects the team’s move to the Bluegrass will be a good addition to the Louisville sports community.
The pro soccer team will be a minor league sports team under the United Soccer Leagues PRO division and would play in the same division as cities such as Charlotte, Pittsburgh and St. Louis.
