What a week: Pitino is 'taking it in stride' as entrance into Hall of Fame is latest accomplishment

(WITH VIDEO) ATLANTA — Understatement of the week: It’s been a good stretch so far for Rick Pitino.

The UofL head coach was officially announced Monday as part of the incoming Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame class that will be inducted Sept. 8.

Late last week, hi son, Richard, was named as the next head coach at the University of Minnesota.

Even the horse in which Pitino has an ownership stake qualified for the Kentucky Derby on Saturday by winning the Santa Anita Derby.

Oh, yeah, and then there’s that whole national championship game he’ll be coaching in tonight.

Pitino was asked on Sunday about the uncanny stretch of good fortune ahead of Monday night’s game:
