Petrino adds depth in secondary

“We are a little bit concerned with our depth in the secondary and the inexperience at safety. That’s an area where we have to continue to work hard and get better.” That was a quote from Bobby Petrino last week regarding his team.

Well, Coach Petrino wasted little time in alleviating his concerns about the safety position. He went out and signed one. JUCO James Sample.

“James is an outstanding football player who will help us fill a void on our football team,” Petrino said in a statement released by the university. “He has outstanding size at the safety position and will add immediate depth to this position on our football team.”

Sample was a 4-star recruit for Washington in 2011 but, after two subpar years with the Huskies, left for American River Junior College. James will be eligible to play immediately and will have 2 years of eligibility remaining.
