Pablo Del Monte says "No" to Derby

The owners Pablo Del Monte, the also eligible that was given his shot at the Derby after Hoppertunity was scratched on Thursday, have decided against entering their colt in the 140th running of the Kentucky Derby on Saturday.

The owners were not excited about the post position their horse would have been given. Had Pablo Del Monte entered he would have broken from gate 20. Owners had until 9 a.m. Friday morning to make their decision.

Pablo Del Monte’s last race was the Toyota Blue Grass Stakes on April 12th. He finished 3rd on the polytrack at Keeneland. The colt is expected to compete in the Preakness later in May.
