MUHAMMAD ALI | What this photo means to Churchill Downs

Before he was ever a heavyweight champion of the world, before he was known the world over world, and before he changed his name from Cassius Clay, Muhammad Ali used to train for his boxing career by running in the sandy race track at Churchill Downs. It was confirmed by the champ years ago when asked about running at Churchill, but there had never been photographic evidence, until now.

In a combination of the most iconic figure to ever come from the city of Louisville and the most iconic structure, the picture above was released today by CNN as part of 10 never-before-seen photos. .

We asked John Asher, a longtime spokesperson for the race track about seeing that photo he had heard and spoken so much about.
