LOUISVILLE – The University of Louisville soccer team hosted the University of Kentucky last night in a matchup of top-25 teams. The 23rd ranked Cardinals took down the 15th ranked Wildcats by a score of 2-0. The Cardinal’s goals came from freshman forward Tate Schmitt and junior midfielder Daniel Johnson. Johnson’s goal came in the 28th minute, less than 90 seconds after Schmitt’s goal that put the Cards up 1-0.

The win improves UofL’s record to 3-1 on the season and they have now beat UK five out their last six matches. The win came in front of a packed house of over 4,500 fans at Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium, and after the game Johnson talked about how fun it is to play those big matches in front your home crowd.

Coach Ken Lolla had only good things to say about his club’s performance and called the match his team’s best 90 minute performance.

The Cards now go on the road to play Syracuse Friday night.
