Louisville Prepares For "Dangerous" Temple Team

“Nice seeing you guys,” Rick Pitino said opening up his pre-Temple press conference.
It was nice to see him back at the podium after the Cards second eight-day break in the last month. Number 13 Louisville (19-4, 8-2) travels to Philadelphia tomorrow to take on Temple (6-16, 1-9). During the long layover, Pitino said his team did not lose focus on their next opponent.
“I think this team has really paid attention to the next opponent,” Pitino said. “That’s the good thing about this basketball team. They never look past an opponent. They take care of business when it comes to preparation. That’s one of our strong suits.”
After the last eight-day break, the Cards fell to Cincinnati at home. While UofL looks to avoid the same fate on the road tomorrow night against the Owls, Temple will present a huge challenge with four players averaging over 14 points a game.
“This is a very dangerous offensive basketball team, and this is a team that will test you defensively,” Pitino said. “They can go small and create match up problems for you.”
With Cincinnati falling to SMU over the weekend, the race in the AAC has tightened up with Louisville sitting in second just two games behind the Bearcats. While the Cards are focused on the next opponent, Pitino warned not to count out the Cards from any title talk.
“We could be there with anyone at the end if we get the right match-ups,” Pitino said. “I think we are an elite team, but if we go against other elite teams with size, we’re going to have trouble.”
The Cards tip off tomorrow night at 7 p.m. ET/6 p.m. CT, and the game can be seen on ESPN.
