Just 11 days after committing to the University of Louisville, five-star guard Antonio Blakeney has backed out of that pledge.
According to reports, Blakeney will now visit a number of schools, including Kentucky, LSU and Missouri. It’s unclear whether or not the Cards will continue to recruit him, but Blakeney did tweet, “I am still really considering Louisville heavily.”
Regardless of what happens in the coming months, it is a major blow for the Cards’ recruiting class which was being ranked among the nation’s best.
The Cards do still hold commitments from Trinity big man Raymond Spalding, small forward Dengel Adel and combo guard Donovan Mitchell. Each of the prospects are rated four-stars or better by every recruiting service.
Steve Jones, who covers UofL recruiting for The Courier-Journal, joined cn|2 Sports to break down the implications of Blakeney’s decision.
