Louisville Football never sleeps

Since arriving in Louisville from Tuscaloosa, Ala., new Cardinal safeties coach and recruiting coordinator Greg Brown has been hard at work shoring up the UofL secondary.

Two weeks ago coach Brown headed out west and signed JUCO safety James Sample out of American River Community College in Sacramento. Now today we get an announcement that Brown had returned to California and reeled in another JUCO safety Isaac Watson out of the College of San Mateo.

The 6’2”, 225 lbs Watson will be available this fall and have two years of eligibility remaining. Speaking to kentuckysports.co Watson said, “Coach Brown… expects me to contribute right away… they run mostly cover three and they want me free or dropping down. He likes my movement, footwork and the fact that I’m a bigger guy. He wants me at that safety position.”

Coach Petrino has had his concerns about the Cardinal secondary and has said as much on several occasions. The loss of Calvin Pryor and Hakeem Smith to graduation has left a glaring hole on the defensive side of the ball. The addition of Sample and Watson should help fill that void.
