The Louisville City FC extended its USL unbeaten streak tonight with a 4-1 victory over Toronto FC. The shots were flying fast and furious in the opening minutes of the game, as Louisville scored three goals in the first 26 minutes of play.
The star of the game was Guy Abend, despite a slow start to the year. His first goal of the season came tonight however, as he booted in the first two Louisville goals of the evening. The second was assisted by George Davis IV.
Those were quickly followed up by the third goal of the half when Nial McCabe scored on a pass from Mark-Anthony Kaye. Louisville’s fourth and final goal of the night came at the 65 minute mark when Tarek Morad scored on a header off of Paolo DelPiccolo’s free kick.
Toronto had a chance to make a statement early when they had a penalty kick by Salvador Bernal Flores at the five minute mark. However, Louisville goalkeeper Greg Ranjitisingh was all over it as he lunged and blocked the kick with his foot.
Toronto was never really able to recover as they went scoreless through most of the game, ending with a futile goal by Shaan Hundal at the 79 minute mark.
Louisville remains atop the USL Eastern Conference standings with tonight’s victory. They take on third place FC Cincinnati on Saturday at Slugger Field with the inaugural River Cities Cup.
