Kelsi Worrell wins Olympic Gold in Rio

University of Louisville swimmer Kelsi Worrell won an Olympic Gold medal on Saturday night for her part in the women’s 4×100 medley relay team.

In Friday’s prelims, Worrell swam the butterfly leg with a split of 56.47 and the team’s 3:54.67 seeded the USA top for the final.

The final foursome combined for a 3:53.13 for the coveted honor. Australia won silver and Denmark took the bronze.

Worrell is a four-time NCAA champion and is the first Louisville Cardinal to win a swimming gold medal.
