Jones-Dalton connection lead Bengals to dominate Jets
10/28/2013 11:21 AM
It was a career day for both Marvin Jones and Andy Dalton as the Bengals won their fourth straight game by beating the Jets 49-9 on Sunday. Dalton threw for a career-best five touchdowns, while Jones caught a club-record four. Dalton finished the day with a 125.7 passer rating after going 19-of-30 for 325 yards. He became only the ninth quarterback since 2001 to pass for 300 yards and three touchdowns in three consecutive regular-season games.
The scoring started immediately with Dalton throwing for touchdowns on their first two drives; the first was a 9-yard pass to Jones, followed by a 4-yard pass to Jermaine Gresham. Sunday marks the third straight game that the Bengals have scored on their opening drive this season.
In addition to a dominant offense, the Bengals defense and special teams also had fantastic performances. Both Chris Crocker and Adam Jones had pick-sixes, and Brandon Tate returned a second quarter kickoff 71 yards to set up the Bengals fourth touchdown.
Cincinnati won Sunday in an impressive and dominant fashion, but now enter into a short week with a quick turn-around as they head to Miami to play the Dolphins on Thursday night.
