It hasn't been done in 16 years, but Thomas More is on the verge

The Thomas More Lady Saints are on the verge of doing something that hasn’t been accomplished since 1999 and 2000. The Saints are one victory away from winning back-to-back undefeated Division 3 National Championships.

Last season while most people focused on Kentucky trying to run the table, the Saints actually went a perfect 33-0. However this season, when star senior Sydney Moss was forced to miss several games, many figured the Saints undefeated string would be snapped. Instead they learned to play without their star, so when Moss did come back, Thomas More became even stronger.

This past weekend, the Saints defeated Amherst 74-65 at the Division 3 Final Four in Columbus, Ohio. Now Thomas More has off until April 4th, when the Saints will take on Tufts for the national title. The last Division 3 Women’s Basketball team to go undefeated in back-to-back seasons was Washington University back in 1999 and 2000. By the way, the Saints beat the Bears, a little more than a week ago in the playoffs.

Kaci Kust has been covering Thomas More for the last several years and has our latest report.
