Injury sidelines DeVante Parker for 6-8 weeks

When word of DeVante Parker’s left foot injury surfaced Friday night, it sounded grim. Head coach Bobby Petrino’s press conference confirmed the gloomy news.

Parker, Louisville’s leading receiver in 2013, will miss the first 6-8 weeks of the upcoming college football season after breaking a bone in his fifth metatarsal (toe). That means the 6-foot-3 receiver will most likely miss games against Miami, Murray State, Virginia, Florida International, Wake Forest and Syracuse.

If he were to miss the full eight games, a road test against highly ranked Clemson and a home date with NC State would also be included.

The loss of Parker is a devastating blow for the UofL football program. But with that early schedule and some luck, the Cards could easily survive the missed time.
