Injury Bug Not Slowing Down WKU Basketball

Western Kentucky wasted no time in dispatching Louisiana Monroe on Saturday. The Toppers jumped out to an 18-1 lead before crusing to a 72-63 victory. Sophomore center Daouda Soumaoro got his first start of the season and came up big for the Tops with eight rebounds and strong interior defense. Also cracking the starting lineup was Trency Jackson. The lightning quick guard caused fits for the Monroe defense with his ability to drive and kick or to pull up and hit the jumper. Jackson finished with a game-high 25 points. Jackson got the starting nod because leading scorer TJ Price was unable to go due to injury. While Price did make a brief appearance, just five minutes with three points and one rebound, he was unable to continue and asked to come out. Head Coach Ray Harper gave an update on TJ at his post game press conference Saturday night.
