How former Card Russ Smith can land a roster spot with the New Orleans Pelicans

Former Card Russ Smith will start summer league games for the New Orleans Pelicans in Las Vegas on Friday. Although some may see these summer league games as a way to pass the time, beat writer Jeff Duncan of The Times-Picayune said the New Orleans Pelicans use these games as a way to identify talent, which gives Smith a perfect opportunity to show off his Russ-diculous skills.

At the NBA combine, Smith measured in at 5’ 11.5” without shoes and 160 pounds. While his size may be an obstacle, New Orleans beat writer Jeff Duncan of The Times-Picayune said it is something Smith can overcome to be a successful pro player.

With all that said, Duncan expects to see the same explosiveness from Smith that he exhibited at Louisville.
