(WITH VIDEO) — It was Luke Hancock who hit a three to give Louisville its first lead of the second half with just under 6:30 to play in Saturday night’s National Semifinals against Wichita State.
It was only fitting considering Hancock, the junior transfer from George Mason, had hit several key shots and made clutch plays to lead an attack from the bench that accounted for 34 of Louisville’s 72 points.
Hancock scored 20 points, added four rebounds, two assists and two steals.
“MVP to me,” Chane Behanan said of Hancock after the game.
Reserve forward Montrezl Harrell also had key put-backs in the first half to keep Louisville close. He finished with eight points. And Tim Henderson’s two three-pointers also fueled UofL’s comeback in the second half.
In the video, Pitino explains why Hancock is coming off the bench even though Pitino considers him one of the top three players on the team. And find out why Kevin Ware calls Hancock “savage.”
