Gardner once again under center for Cards

Quarterback play has been up and down for the Cards, but the struggles don’t just fall on the shoulders of one player.

Both Will Gardner and Reggie Bonnafon have been the UofL starter at different times this season, and now it’s Gardner’s title once again as the sophomore quarterback will start against NC State Saturday.

Gardner relieved Bonnafon late in the Clemson game, and nearly led the Cards to a win. In limited action, he complete 10-16 passes for 150 yards, including a 22-yard touchdown to Eli Rogers and a 73-yard completion to James Quick.

The Louisville coaching staff says there will be a specialized “package” for Bonnafon, so fans should expect to still see the true freshman playing going forward.

cn|2 Sports discussed the implications of switching quarterbacks and what can be done to fix the team’s struggles on offense.
