Four Bengals make Prisco's NFL Top 100

Pete Prisco, Senior NFL Columnist for CBS, shared his annual Top 100 NFL Players List this week. Four Cincinnati Bengals made the list this year.

Coming in first at #23 was defensive tackle Geno Atkins… pretty impressive for spending the season out with an ACL injury.

Next up was wide receiver A.J. Green at #27. The surprise here is that Green was only the fourth wide out to make the list behind Calvin Johnson (#6), Julio Jones (#15) and Josh Gordon (#20). An argument could definitely be made for Green to be the second or third receiver on this list; though Prisco’s criticism of Green is fair.

Atkins and Green were the only two Bengals to make Prisco’s Top 50… but linebacker Vontaze Burfict, who teammates have called ‘one of the smartest players in the locker room’, just missed out at #53. After NFL Network’s Top 100 list came out, Burfict admitted to them that he believes he’s better than Luke Kuechly, the reigning Defensive MVP, so I’m sure Burfict would argue he deserves to be higher on the list.

Lastly, just making the cut at #100 was Andrew Whitworth. The leadership and versatility of the veteran offensive lineman certainly makes him worthy of a spot on this list.
