Former University of Louisville basketball player Chris Jones was officially arraigned on charges of rape and sodomy at the Jefferson County Hall of Justice, Thursday.

Jones was handcuffed and taken into police custody on $25,000 bond and was ordered no contact with both the alleged victims and co-defendants. He will be under house arrest. His attorneys said that Jones has withdrawn from school to focus on his defense. They also referenced a video captured near the location of the attack, which they say is in the custody of UofL authorities. They asked that this video be preserved in order to be used in his defense. He returns to court on March 9th.

Jones’ attorney Scott Cox reacted after the arraignment.

The University of Louisville dismissed Jones Sunday, shortly after he served a one-game suspension and the team has been quiet regarding the reason for his dismissal. Reports surfaced this week that he’d sent threatening text messages to a female on campus, leading to his first suspension, but no details were available as to why he was booted from the team. Until this morning.

Jones was charged with rape and sodomy late Wednesday, regarding two instances with two different women Saturday night. The warrant says one of the women was hospitalized early Sunday morning and identified Jones, who is expected to turn himself in Thursday morning, as her assailant.
