Despite their 23-26 record, Eastern Kentucky is playing arguably its best baseball of the season. Friday against Murray State, the Colonels will be going for their 6th win in the last 7 games.
That stretch includes a come from behind series win at Jacksonville State, and perhaps the biggest victory of the season, erasing a 4-0 deficit to defeat Kentucky in Lexington 5-4.
Part of the reason for EKU’s success is home run hitter Kyle Nowlin (pronounced Now-lin), who leads the team with 17 dingers. In fact the senior outfielder is third in the nation in home runs.
Another part of the EKU equation, is the coaching ability of the Head Colonel Edwin Thompson. He told CN|2 Sports why Eastern is trending upwards in the OVC.
