Arkansas Derby winner Danza, who finished third in this year’s Kentucky Derby, will miss the Belmont it was announced today. Trainer Todd Pletcher decided to pull the plug on the three-year-old colt after he became dissatisfied with a workout Sunday.

“Danza worked very well, but I wasn’t totally happy with the way he looked this morning,” Pletcher explained in a release. “He had a hard race in the Arkansas Derby and came back three weeks later for the Kentucky Derby. He has acted well in the two weeks since the Derby, but I just sensed he wasn’t 100% after that breeze.”

Pletcher also said that the son of Street Boss would be sent to Payton Training Center in Ocala for some diagnostics and time off.
