Chris Jones has been dismissed from the Louisville Cardinals

Chris Jones is no longer part of the Louisville Cardinals. Today the senior guard was dismissed from UofL, for an undisclosed reason. The only comment Louisville Sports Information Director Kenny Klein had was that there would be no comment.

Yesterday Jones played in his first game since his original suspension. The senior looked great on the court, scoring 17 points, in helping Louisville rally to defeat Miami 55-53. When I spoke with Jones in the locker room afterwards, the senior said he had learned from his suspension and was excited to be moving forward. Now that journey has come to an abrupt halt.

The Cardinals will struggle without Jones, who was the team’s best point guard and arguably best defender. Look for freshman Quentin Snider to get the start in Jones’ place Monday night at 7 ET when the 21-6 Cardinals, 9-5 in the ACC, play at 12-15 Georgia Tech. The Cards will probably make it into the NCAA Tournament, but where they will be seeded without their senior is now a real concern. Also, UofL’s quest for being one of the top four ACC Teams, is now in jeoardy. Top four in the league get a double bye in the upcoming conference tournament, which a now short-handed Cardinals squad could definitely use.

In case you missed it last week, here is a segment we did with Chris Jones and Rick Pitino from back in January.
