Cards Win Ugly

UofL scored a grind-it-out 57-54 victory over Pittsburgh on Sunday. Pitt stayed in the game by slowing down the tempo and holding the Cards to 39 percent shooting from the field.
Kyle Kuric bounced back from an 0-for-11 performance against Cincinnati to score 17 points, including a pivotal three that gave UofL a 53-48 lead with 3:25 left. But The Cards wouldn’t have done it without Russ Smith, who scored 11 straight points that gave UofL the lead for good midway through the second half. Smith scored a team-high 18 points and had four steals.
Louisville will host South Florida on Wednesday. It will be the final home game for seniors Kyle Kuric, Chris Smith and Jared Swopshire. Stay tuned to CN|2 Sports this week at 6:30 and 10:30 p.m. and On Demand Ch. 103 for all the pre-game talk and a look at UofL’s departing seniors.
