Cards Fall To Syracuse, Big East Tourney Looming
03/03/2012 06:49 PM
The University of Louisville’s offensive swoon continued Saturday at No. 2 Syracuse. The Cards shot just 34 percent from the field, including a putrid 2-for-23 from three-point range, in a 58-49 loss. UofL led 15-9 midway through the first half, but Syracuse outscored the Cards 17-4 the rest of the period and led 26-19 at the break. The Orange would extend their lead to as many as 19 in the second half and were never seriously threatened.
Louisville (22-9, 10-8 in Big East) has now lost four of its past six games, and the Cards scored less than 60 points in five of those.
UofL will be a No. 7 seed in next week’s Big East Tournament. The Cards will face open play at 7 p.m. Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden against the winner of Tuesday’s matchup between No. 10 seed Seton Hall and 15th-seeded Providence. Tune into CN|2 Sports Monday at 6:30 p.m. for a recap of the Syracuse game and a preview of the Big East Tourney.
