Senorise Perry rushed for 100 yards and two touchdowns and Teddy Bridgewater threw for another score to help Louisville beat Kentucky 27-13. The Cardinals’ defense forced three turnovers, including two in their territory to preserve a win that looked a lot less impressive than their two previous outings. But Kentucky’s offense couldn’t get going and take advantage as receivers dropped passes from Maxwell Smith — who took all but two snaps in the first half. Jalen Whitlow, who played most of the second half after Smith was injured, threw a 3-yard touchdown pass to get the Cats within 14. UK tried to score in the closing minutes after the Cards missed a field goal, but Whitlow was quickly sacked, stifling the drive. The Cards retained the Governor’s Cup trophy by beating the Cats for the third consecutive year.
