Cards beat Barry in UofL basketball exhibition

The Louisville basketball team opened the 2014-15 season with a 91-71 exhibition win over Barry University, but it wasn’t exactly smooth sailing for the Cards.
Head coach Rick Pitino said one of the team’s biggest weaknesses is rebounding, and it showed Saturday. The Bucs out rebounded the Cards 53-41. Although the differential on the boards wasn’t pretty, Pitino did note that it meant UofL was playing good man-to-man defense and was holding Barry to tough shots.
Wayne Blackshear led the way on offense with 22 points. Montrezl Harrell wasn’t far behind with 18, and the junior added five rebounds and a block to his stat line.
In the backcourt, Terry Rozier scored 15 points, dished out seven assists and pulled down eight rebounds. Even more impressive than those numbers was the fact that Rozier didn’t commit a single turnover. At the other guard position, Chris Jones started slow but finished with nine points and five assists.
The Cards return to action next Sunday with another scrimmage against Bellarmine. Tipoff for that game will be at 12:30 at the KFC Yum! Center.
