Cardinals Advance to Super Regional

The Cards are one step closer to Omaha as they beat rival Kentucky 4-1 Sunday night in the Regional Championship.

The win brings the cards to 3-0 in the NCAA tournament advances them to the Super Regional round next week.

Freshman pitcher Josh Rogers got the win. He struck out five Wildcats, allowing one run and only four hits in six innings of work.

The Cards did most of the damage in the 7th inning, as Nick Solak, Cole Sturgeon and Sutton Whiting each scored a run.

Kentucky’s lone run came in the 7th as Matt Reida grounded out to score Storm Wilson.

UofL advances to the Super Regional for the fourth time in school history and second time in the past two years.

The Cards will host the Super Regional at Jim Patterson Stadium next weekend.
