BREAKING | Rick Pitino speaks out about scandal allegations and Katina Powell

01/01/2016 03:56 PM

It’s a new year, and Rick Pitino came into his 1:00 pm press conference ready to set a couple records straight and start 2016 with a clean conscience.

He was questioned about supposedly giving the finger to Kentucky fans, and decided to take a few minutes to give his thoughts on skipping postgame press conferences, the allegations of solacious acts by Self proclaimed escort Katina Powell, and he criticized ESPN and IBJ Publishing for giving Powell a forum for her criminal activity.

Pitino says he expects the investigation to end no sooner than July, and that he has not yet spoken to NCAA investigators or Chuck Smrt, the man heading the private investigation by the University of Louisville.

Watch and listen to the full monologue which starts by Pitino addressing his frustration with Rick Bozich:

Rick later goes on to say “I believe in the way we do things, and I believe we have been wronged. We have been wronged. Now, did one person do some scurrilous things? I believe so. From what I know now, I believe so. The only thing I don’t know, I don’t know why he did it. I just, for the life of me, can’t figure out [pause] he knew better, he was taught better, by his parents and by me.”
