The Cincinnati Reds made the first of several expected trades official today sending staff ace Johnny Cueto to Kansas City for three prospects.

By sending Cueto, along with some cash considerations to KC, the Reds get left-handers Brandon Finnegan, John Lamb and Cody Reed. Finnegan and Lamb are being sent to The Bats, while Reed is headed to Double-A Pensacola.

Cueto, 29, is 7-6 with a 2.62 ERA this season. He is coming off a big win Saturday night in Colorado after throwing eight shutout innings. Cueto made his MLB debut in Cincinnati in 2008 and has won a total of 92 games as a Red. He took to twitter to thank the fans immediately after the deal was announced.

The next week is expected to be a busy one as potential contenders scramble to make deals before the trade deadline. Several more Cincinnati players could be on the move as well. Jay Bruce, Aroldis Chapman, Mike Leake and Marlon Byrd have all been mentioned ino possible deals.
