Bengals Darqueze Dennard is "everything we hoped he would be"

The Bengals wrapped up mandatory minicamp today and will break for the weekend before fitting in one more OTA until taking the summer off until training camp. A few things from the last day of minicamp:
1. All 8 draft picks are under contract. Shortly after practice today, the Bengals announced they signed their first-round pick Darqueze Dennard. Over the next four years, he’s slotted to make $8 million with a fifth-year club option. All of the other seven draft picks were under contract by the end of last month. “Of course it’s great to have all this done well before we come back for training camp,” said head coach Marvin Lewis. Last year, first-round pick Tyler Eifert wasn’t signed until July 15.
2. AJ McCarron threw more. We’ve seen #5 in action here and there throughout OTAs and minicamp but not as much as the other quarterbacks. McCarron spent a lot of time working on hand-offs with the running backs. Yes, Andy Dalton is without question the Bengals quarterback, but today we got to see a little more of the former Alabama QB’s arm. He had a couple of nice throws, including a well-placed ball to Cobi Hamilton on a comeback route.
3. Dennard is “everything we hoped he would be”. Marvin Lewis continued by saying, “He’s a great talent. He played in a big-time pressure defense at Michigan State and he’s not afraid to be out there (in coverage) by himself. And as we knew he would, he conducts himself every day as a mature pro who wants to get better every day.” Dennard’s teammates echoed Marvin’s comments and multiple veterans singled out the rookie for his performance in camp. Carlos Dunlap said, “Dennard had a great camp. I like what I’ve seen,” followed by Domata Peko agreeing. “I was really impressed with my man Dennard. He did a great job breaking up some passes. I’m excited to see what he can do for us during the season.” Most notably, Dennard broke up a pass to AJ Green during practice today.
