Another Rory Story

He’s become so famous, only the first name is necessary. Rory (McIlroy) beat the impending darkness, and beat the rest of the PGA Championship field, to win the 96th version of golf’s final Major.
McIlroy winds up 16 under, good for a one stroke victory over Phil Mickelson. The win finishes an amazing run for the 25 year old. McIlroy has won his last three tournaments, two of them being majors.
Rory’s summer story includes victory at the British Open last month, the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational last weekend, and now the PGA Championship. McIlroy retains his number one golf ranking, but now in the bigger picture, many feel Rory has also surpassed Tiger as the game’s biggest name.
Also drawing rave reviews this weekend was the Valhalla Golf Club. Despite all the rain, the course remained competitive, and provided an exciting finish for the thousands in attendance and millions watching around the world.
Valhalla does not have any immediate tournaments coming up, but runner-up Phil Mickelson said the players love playing on the Louisville-based course and he hopes they’ll be coming back to Valhalla in the future.
The 2014 season has another month and a half to go, culminating with the Ryder Cup September 25th thru the 28th in Scotland.
