University of Missouri-Kansas City confirms that Andre McGee has resigned.
The former UofL director of basketball operations’ resignation comes in the midst of UMKC’s own review of McGee’s involvement in allegations of sexual misconduct within the UofL basketball program.
Andre McGee has resigned his position as an assistant basketball coach at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
McGee, a former player and director of basketball operations at the University of Louisville, has been on administrative leave from UMKC since Oct. 2, when the allegations first came to light.
“The university deserves a full time assistant coach and I am not able to provide that to the basketball team while the false allegations against me are being investigated,” McGee wrote in a letter to UMKC Director of Athletics Carla Wilson.
UMKC is investigating allegations involving McGee and Louisville recruiting. The NCAA and the University of Louisville have also said they are investigating the allegations. While the investigation is ongoing, UMKC will have no further comment on the matter.
