This past year American Pharoah became the first horse since 1978 to win the Triple Crown. Last weekend, the Thoroughbred became the first Triple Crown winner to also capture the Breeders Cup, known collectively as the Grand Slam. All of that success comes with a hefty price.

If you want to breed your mare with American Pharoah, you better dig deep. The going rate is $200,000. Statistically it is not uncommon for a stallion to cover 200 mares per year. That would come out to 40 Million Dollars in American Pharoah’s first year.

Surprisingly there is one horse who has a higher fee. Tapit, who has produced several talented champions, gets $300,000.
