UofL sophomore Akoy Agau is expected to return to workouts in six weeks after undergoing sports hernia surgery Tuesday morning.

The six-week timeline would put Agau back on the court sometime mid-September, which is right before practice officially begins in early October.

The news about the surgery came as a surprise to many when Agau posted this picture on his Instagram account:

He included the caption: “Pre-surgery. Out in Philly about to go under the knife. About to get fixed up!! Then waking up and getting a huge Philly cheese steak.”

Following that, the University of Louisville later tweeted:
MBB: Louisville F Akoy Agau had successful sports hernia surgery today, expected back to action in 6 weeks #L1C4”

Agau played in 19 games for the Cardinals as a freshman last season while totaling 17 points, 21 rebounds and five blocked shots.
