ACC to keep 8 game football schedule

The ACC announced Monday that they will be keeping an eight game football schedule and will vote to add a strength of schedule requirement similar to the one passed by the SEC.

The strength of schedule requirement says that each ACC team would be required to play a non-conference game against a team from the other group of five power conferences (Big 12, Big Ten, Pac 12 or SEC). The vote is expected to take place this week and is expected to pass easily.

Several ACC teams already play in-state rivalry games against SEC foes including Louisville’s long standing Governors Cup game against Kentucky. In some seasons Louisville will face an SEC foe as well as Notre Dame due to the ACC’s agreement with Notre Dame.
