A Soccer Shake-up affects the sport locally and globally

This afternoon FIFA President Sepp Blatter resigned, just days after being re-elected. The 79 year old and FIFA are both in the midst of a corruption scandal.

We talked with Louisville FC forward Sidney Rivera about the impact he thinks it will have on the sport, and his impressions of how the FIFA scandal is affecting the sport he loves.

Rivera also discussed his team, Louisville FC, which has not lost a game since May 2nd in Charlotte. The team is currently playing in both the USL, and the US Open Cup, a tourney that takes American Teams from every facet of the sport, and lets them compete to see who is the best of the best. Thanks to Louisville’s win last week at Indianapolis, the local team is still alive in the tournament, and will next face the MLS Chicago Fire.

Louisville, 4-1-5 in the USL, is also preparing for a league game next Wednesday at Montreal.
