The Louisville Cardinals start play in the NCAA Baseball Tournament Friday at 6pm. UofL meets in-state foe Morehead State in their first game. Also in Louisville are Michigan and Bradley. One of the teams will advance into the Super Regionals. If it is the Cardinals, they would host that, next week. Louisville Baseball may need some extra run support when they face Morehead State in Friday’s NCAA Regional. MSU had a team batting average of .335, scored 499 runs and hit 65 home runs as a team. The Eagles also had two players hitting over .400 this season. Despite Morehead’s gaudy offensive numbers, the Cardinals’ pitchers are familiarizing themselves with the scouting report and are confident in their abilities to send batters back to the dugout.  Read more

The sport of Horse Racing has not had a triple crown winner since 1978. Derby and Preakness champion American Pharoah tries to change that a week from Saturday at the Belmont. While most people want to see a triple crown winner, not everybody agrees on whether or not it is good for the sport. UofL Swimmer Kelsi Worrell is one of the nicest people you’ll meet, until you get into the pool. Then she has a warrior’s mentality. Last March Worrell won the NCAA Championship in the 100 Butterfly, setting both the NCAA and American record (49.89). Now she will be representing the USA in next month’s Pan-Am games in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The Baseball Cards will begin NCAA Tournament play at home for the third straight year as Louisville will host the 2015 regional at Jim Patterson Stadium. This is the fifth time UofL was chosen to host the regional in the last seven years but playing at home won’t make it a cake walk for the Cards. Coach Schnellenberger still looks foundly on his teams

It’s been years since Howard Schnellenberger was the Head Coach at Miami and Louisville, but he still looks fondly on those two programs.
