The #3 Louisville Cardinals are getting ready for their Saturday Showdown at the #5 Clemson Tigers. Both teams enter the game with 4-0 records this season. They also each have two of the most talked about quarterbacks in college football. Louisville’s Lamar Jackson is the Heisman-favorite four games into the season. Jackson has accounted for 25 total touchdowns this season, throwing for 13 touchdowns and rushing fro 12 touchdowns. Western Kentucky athletic director Todd Stewart spoke to the media on Thursday about the upcoming men’s and women’s basketball seasons. He was asked specifically about the the men’s programs transition to new head coach Rick Stansbury. Stansbury was hired in March as WKU head men’s basketball coach. Prior to WKU, he was an assistant coach at Texas A&M. Stansbury is best known though as head coach of the Mississippi State men’s basketball team, a position he held for 14 seasons.  Read more

FC Cincinnati is getting ready for its first ever playoff game. The team hosts the Charleston Battery in an Eastern Conference first-round match-up Sunday afternoon. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. ET inside Nippert Stadium. FCC already has one trophy locked up even before the playoffs begin. FCC’s Sean Okoli was awarded the USL Golden Boot award earlier this week. BELLARMINE | Women's soccer duo breaks school records on same play

Fans at last Friday’s Lewis vs. Bellarmine women’s soccer game witnessed history. Bellarmine won the game 2-1 in overtime, and in the process, the Knights’ record book was rewritten. Lauren Holder made the game-winning assist Friday to Mary Beth Gorham, who scored the game-winning goal in overtime. They each broke program records on that play. Gorham became the Knights’ career leader in goals with 40. Meanwhile, Holder became the program’s career leader in assists with 17.  Read more

The Walton-Verona High School volleyball team is playing well so far this season, and the team credits that to a new mentality. “We are constantly lifting each other up, cheering each other on,” said head coach Angela Hummeldorf. One of Kentucky’s biggest high school football rivalry games takes place this Friday night. 6A #1 Louisville Trinity (6-0) faces 6A #6 Louisville St. X (4-1) at 8 p.m. ET Friday inside Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium. Trinity has had the advantage in the rivalry as of late. The Shamrocks have won ten of the past 11 meetings (regular season and postseason) between the two schools.
