The Louisville Cardinals saw their hopes of winning the ACC regular season title take a major hit. The Cards gave up a double digit second half lead at Notre Dame, as the Fighting Irish rallied for the 71-66 victory. The 13th ranked University of Louisville Men’s Basketball team has a tall task Saturday afternoon when they take on Notre Dame in South Bend, IN. The Irish are in the “receiving votes” category of the Associated Press rankings, and could be considered the 28th best team in the nation if the rankings officially extended that far. The Atlantic Coast Conference announced the home and away opponents for all basketball teams for the 2016 and 2017 seasons. The Cards are slated for home and home series with Virginia, Pittsburgh, Notre Dame, and Syracuse in the 2016 season. Next year, Louisville fans can look forward to Duke, Miami, Clemson, NC State, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, Virginia, and Virginia Tech all coming to the Yum! Center. The Kentucky High School Athletic Association held it’s blind draw in order to set initial matchups for Kentucky’s Sweet Sixteen Tournament. Where many other states seed their teams according to rankings and records, Kentucky uses the blind draw. The blind draw creates an environment where good teams could meet each other at any point in the tournament, including the early rounds. EKU loses at Mrehead State Thursday night, 61-50. The score drops the Colonels to 14-13 on the season, 5-7 in the OVC. While hovering around the .500 mark is not what the team expected back in October, the Colonels hope to finish strong and ride a wave of momentum into the OVC Tournament. Trevon Young will most likely miss 2016

Looks like Louisville will be without one of it’s defensive leaders for 2016. Outside Linebacker Trevon Young is expected to miss the entire season due to a fractured and dislocated hip suffered in the Music City Bowl. He had surgery, and the expected recovery time is eight to 12 months. Trevon’s father told the Courier-Journal it is unlikely his son will suit up.
