Kentucky opened SEC play in South Carolina against a Gamecock coming off season-opening wins against NC State and Missouri. UK could not have gotten off to a worse start, giving up a 68 yard touchdown to USC junior wideout Deebo Samuel on the first play from scrimmage. Gov. Bevin's dramatic Speedway entrance

By now you have probably seen Governor Matt Bevin’s dramatic entrance to the Quakerstate 400 this past Saturday in Sparta to deliver the Green Flag. Bevin, who was hanging by a rope from a Blackhawk helicopter, was lowered on the the track to hand off the official green flag to start the race. You can add senior quarterback Mike White to the Maxwell Award watch list it was announced Monday. The Maxwell Award is given annually to the nations’s top player. White, who will be starting his second season as the top signal caller in Bowling Green, is coming off a season which saw him named C-USA Newcomer of the Year. Six Western Kentucky football players were arraigned in Warren County circuit court Wednesday morning for their role in the beating of a WKU student at the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity house in Bowling Green. Quinton Baker, Xavier Lane, Tyler Obee and Cecil Stallings were charged with Complicity to 1st Degree Wanton Endangerment, 4th degree complicity to assault and 3rd degree criminal trespass. Despite missing out on a coveted Top 8 seed and the ability to host a super regional series should they advance, Kentucky now knows what teams will be in their bracket as regional play opens this Friday at Cliff Hagan Stadium in Lexington. Abel Tasman got off to a slow start on a sloppy track at Churchill Downs before a late charge saw the 9-1 filly draw clear in the stretch and take the 143rd running of the Kentucky Oaks by 1 1/4 length over 12-1 Daddy’s Little Darling.
