The gates are open at Keeneland race track for the 16-day 2018 spring meet. A record $30,000 will be given away on College Scholarship Day, which is annual tradition during the spring meet. This event annually attracts thousands of college students from across the bluegrass state. Opening Day for most minor league baseball teams get underway on Thursday, April 5. In addition to a new season, the Lexington Legends will have a new voice on the air this baseball season. Emma Tiedemann, who is a native of Texas, is one of only two female announcers in all of minor league baseball. The Lexington Legends hosted media day Wednesday and previewed the start of it’s season by announcing their 2018 Opening Day roster. The roster includes 13 pitchers, three catchers, seven infielders and four outfielders. Four of the top five prospects in the Kansas City Royals organization will begin their 2018 season in Lexington. The University of Kentucky Bat Cats were down in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to face the Crimson Tide over the weekend. The Cats lost 4-2 on both Friday and Saturday to go 0-2 in the series. Eastern Kentucky University introduced A.W. Hamilton as its new mens basketball coach Wednesday. Hamilton spent this 2017-2018 as an assistant coach at North Carolina State University. Hamilton is originally from Georgetown, Kentucky and played high school basketball for Scott County. This year is the 100th anniversary of Kentucky’s Sweet 16 basketball tournament. Professional Wrestlers Invade Lexington Comic Con

Several current and former professional wrestlers are in Lexington for the weekend appearing at the annual Lexington Comic and Toy Convention at Heritage Hall.
