Kaci is a Production Specialist based out of the Northern Kentucky Spectrum News bureau. When she’s not working at the station she is covering high school sports, Bengals or EKU games for Sports Night, which airs weeknights at 6:30 and 10:30 on Spectrum News. She played basketball for Hope College in Michigan where she earned a degree in journalism. She says if she wasn’t covering athletics for a living, she’d still be up early checking scores and stats. County Connection | Star Multi-Sport Athlete Mason Wilson

Gallatin County High School senior Mason Wilson has found success during his athletic career at the high school level. In fact, the star basketball player has committed to play college basketball at Midway University. But, basketball is not his only prep sport. The two-sport athlete has played both basketball and baseball for the Wildcats all four years at Gallatin County, and last year he threw another unexpected sport into the mix.  Read more 

HS BASKETBALL | State championship a long time in the making for Bowling Green

Bowling Green High School won their first Sweet 16 State Championship in school history on Sunday by beating Cooper 67-56. The Purples feature three senior leaders who have reached the Sweet 16 each year of their high school careers. HS BASKETBALL | Bowling Green wins State Championship

The Bowling Green Purples became just the second school in KHSAA history to win both the football State Championship and basketball State Championship in the same school year on Sunday when they beat Cooper 67-56. The Purples were in the Sweet 16 for the fourth straight season and had lost to the eventual State Champions the past three years. NKU BASKETBALL | John Brannen named Horizon Coach of the Year

The Northern Kentucky University men’s basketball team heads into their conference tournament this weekend with a 4-seed and a 21-10 record. Earlier this week, NKU Head Coach John Brannen was named Horizon League Coach of the Year after leading the team to the second best turnaround in the country, winning 12 more games this year than they did last season.  Read more 

COLLEGE BASKETBALL | Thomas More Women Still Undefeated

The DIII defending national champion Thomas More women’s basketball team is a perfect 23-0. They still have two games left to play before wrapping up another undefeated season. After graduating 3-time National Player of the Year Sydney Moss, the Saints have had to transition and find a way to play without their star. The Saints are led by junior point guard Abby Owings, who has yet to lose a single game at Thomas More.  Read more 

H.S. BOWLING | History made at KHSAA Bowling State Championship

History was made at the KHSAA Bowling State Championship in Lexington on Thursday for the individual competitions. St. Xavier senior Brandon Flora became the first boy to win multiple titles in the singles competition. Flora won his freshman and senior year, while also finishing as a runner up in between his two championships. Meanwhile, Breanna Elkin of Mercy became the first winner from a girls’ private school and the first girls individual winner from Louisville.  Read more

HS BASKETBALL | Dieonte Miles is taking Walton-Verona to new heights

Sophomore center Dieonte Miles played on the freshman team last year, averaging 10 points per game but rarely seeing any minutes when he dressed for JV or Varsity games. Over the summer, Dieonte grew three inches to his current height of 6’8 and worked hard on improving his offensive game. Dieonte is leading the Bearcats in scoring, but his Coach has called him a “hidden secret” of Northern Kentucky boys’ basketball… thought he won’t be for long.  Read more

H.S. Basketball | Campbell County's Clos leads young Camels team

As the defending 10th Region and 37th District Champions, Campbell County hopes to continue their success this season but will do so without senior leadership. The Camels are a young team with no seniors and only two starters returning to this year’s squad, junior point guard Taylor Clos and junior forward MacKenzie Schwarber. Offensively, the Camels will rely on the leadership and scoring abilities of Clos, who has had to take on much more responsibility this season.  Read more
